Faouzi Ghoulam has expressed his delight at signing a new deal with Italian giants Napoli.

It was confirmed yesterday that the Algerian star will be contracted to Napoli up to mid-2022.

Ghoulam’s long-term knee injury had skeptics claiming that the Italian club was stalling on offering him a renewed contract, but yesterday’s announcement of the deal has secured the player’s future.

The 26-year-old had been strongly linked with a move away from the Stadio San Paolo while his old deal – which expired at the end of the season – was still in place.

But having signed on the dotted line to extend his relationship with Napoli, Ghoulam declared his joy on his official Twitter page.

“Proud and happy to be part of this great project,” he wrote. “To represent this beautiful city and its colours. Proud to be Neapolitan. Come on Napoli forever.”

With any worries over his club career now dispelled, Ghoulam can concentrate on his recovery.
