Franck Ribery says he would like to extend his 10-year stay at Bayern Munich following his goalscoring performance in the 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Friday.

“My aim is to stay at Bayern Munich for as long as possible,” said the 34-year old French winger, whose contract is up at the end of the season. “I’m pleased to be fit and healthy. I’m having fun with the team, enjoying playing and training as well.”

Ribery, who has won seven Bundesliga titles with the Bavarians since signing from Marseille in 2007, has seen his position on the left flank come under pressure from countryman Kingsley Coman this season, but he remains convinced of his value to the team.

“Normally I provide a lot of assists and do a lot of dribbling,” he continued. “But it’s always great when you score a goal.”

Ribery’s strike at the BayArena was his first since May 2017 and the final day 4-1 win over Freiburg, with a torn knee ligament disrupting his progress between then and now.
